Holistic Massage

The ultimate goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being. Holistic massage is an ancient method of healing that clears the lymphatic system and releases toxins from the body as well as relieving mental and emotional stresses & tensions. We can encourage the body’s natural healing abilities to come forth & balance the entire body as a whole. Manipulations of the soft tissues produce therapeutic effects on the systems of the body. Holistic massage can be seen as a means of inducing relaxation & healing to improve the body’s functioning & elimination of waste products, speed up healing after injury, and enhance recovery from disease.

Deep Tissue Massage

A Deep Tissue massage is the same as a Holistic massage with the added benefit of focusing on releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Sport Remedial Therapy

Sports and remedial therapy is the skilled application of a wide range of therapeutic techniques to treat a client in the prevention, recognition and treatment of a sports related injury and to help support the client to maintain and improve fitness. The therapist may also use techniques to assist a client with injuries or trauma sustained both in a sports and non sports situation such as at home or at work.

Taping & Strapping

Taping is mainly used for immobilising a joint and offers a very high level of support for sports injuries. Used correctly it will prevent a knee twisting or an ankle rolling in a specific direction. Sports tape is versatile and can also allow a certain amount of stretch. This can be used to support joints where the therapist wishes to control the ratio between support and flexibility. This is commonly used in sports for strapping thighs of rugby players to give extra grip at lineouts, etc.
