Sports Therapy Massage
Sport Therapy
Sports Remedial Therapy is the skilled application of a wide range of therapeutic techniques to treat, recognise, prevent and treat sports-related injuries and to help support the client to maintain and improve fitness. The therapist may also use techniques to assist a client with injuries or trauma sustained both in sport and non-sports situations such as at home or at work.
TuiNa Therapy
TuiNa is the most tried and tested massage therapy in the world. It is an ancient healing art that employs the use of the hands to press on key points on the surface of the body. When these are points stimulated they release tension, increase circulation and improve the body's healing.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine. It is a fantastic way to treat a variety of health issues. It moves stagnation, stretches tight muscles, myofascial release, moves blood & lymph, draws out coughs & colds, helps with cellulite, moves inflammation, breaks up scar tissue, is relaxing and is great for your body’s general well-being.
Holistic Massage
The ultimate goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being. Holistic massage is an ancient method of healing that clears the lymphatic system and releases toxins from the body as well as relieving mental and emotional stresses & tensions.
Taping And Strapping
Kinesiology tape is used for treating athletic injuries and a variety of physical disorders. Taping can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal imbalances plus inflammatory conditions. This accelerates recovery time so you can get back to your daily routine. Some Rigid tapes can be used for immobilising joints and offer a very high level of support for sports injuries.
Deep Tissue Massage
A Deep Tissue Massage is the same as a Holistic Massage with the added benefit of focusing on releasing chronic muscle tension. The primary focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia which is the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic based treatment where needles are inserted along energy pathways knows as meridians.
It can be used for a variety of medical conditions like migraines rather than only muscular pain and stiffness. Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been used for approx. 3000 years (100 BCE).
Manual Stretching
Tight muscles that are restrictive cause strength, endurance & power loss. Stretching encourages muscles to release tensions, increases circulation and blood flow. It helps relieve pain and allows joints to move freely through their entire range. Stretching improves athletic performance, strength, balance, flexibility, posture, stamina, reduce stress, encourages organ health and much more.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are local contractions in a small number of muscle fibres in a larger muscle. These can pull on tendons and ligaments attached to muscles and can cause pain and weakness deep within joints. This can cause tenderness or twitching in a muscle and be a precursor to muscle spasms.
Myofascial Manipulation
Myofascial Manipulation is a specialised manual therapy used for the treatment of fascial tension and restrictions to restore balance and function to an area. We can use a combination of stretching, Cupping or tool-assisted therapy to break down adhesions and to “lubricate’ an area so that the muscles can glide easier with the fascia.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling - aka Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a treatment to ease muscular pain and tightness. Practitioners needle local pain points by placing needles into tight muscle & bands on the muscle which will release tension in that area, dry needling is based on basic anatomy and its origin dates back to the 1950's.
